LightSpeed Photonics was founded in 2021 by Rohin Kumar and Ramana V Pamidighantam,
headquartered in Singapore, with the mission to revolutionise optical interconnect technology.
The company addresses the increasing bandwidth demands driven by AI, HPC, and data-
intensive applications by building next-generation optical interconnects that seamlessly integrate
lasers directly into chips. This enables multi-terabit communication at low power with a
compact, easy-to-integrate footprint.
With a focus on building compact modular interconnects for data bandwidth intensive
applications, the company has secured a significant IP portfolio, including 7 granted patents, 23
pending applications, and 6 technical publications. In terms of international expansion, the
company has successfully marked its presence in Singapore, marking an important step in its
global journey.
In 2022, LightSpeed Photonics was selected as one of the 10 startups worldwide to join the
Luminate NY accelerator at NextCorps, Rochester, showcasing its optoelectronic processors
addressing bandwidth challenges across industries. Further, the company received strategic
support in 2023 from Arrow Electronics, Inc., a global technology solutions leader, to accelerate
the development of optics-embedded processors.
Additionally, Kaynes SemiCon signed a landmark MoU with LightSpeed Photonics in the year
2024, making it India’s first paying customer for outsourced semiconductor assembly and test
(OSAT) services. That same year, the company was also recognized as a Select 200 company at
Forbes India - DGEMS, adding to the company's global visibility, valuable investor connections,
strategic partnerships, and further strengthening its position in the international market.
Building on this momentum, LightSpeed Photonics launched its flagship product targeting data
centers, edge computing cloudlets, and Industry 4.0, supporting real-time high-bandwidth
workloads including video streaming, smartNICs, and cybersecurity. Key products include the
LK28 line, showing strong market interest, particularly in machine vision and camera-based
industrial applications. Additionally, the recently launched LK100 delivers futuristic 400Gbps
optical interconnect capabilities. Further, its LKF100 platform is strategically positioned to
serve the evolving 400G/800G transceiver markets and the expanding PCIe-over-fiber
ecosystem. This platform closely aligns with the rapidly emerging NVMe and CXL standards.
In August 2025, LightSpeed successfully closed a $4 million Series A funding round, further
fueling its growth and product development pipeline. The company’s demonstration at OFC
2025 not only showcased its technology but also reinforced its go-to-market strategy,
strengthening relationships with investors and customers. The roadmap includes expanding early
access to next-generation 200G/channel products and targeting deployment of SR4/SR8
configurations for 800G and 1.6T optical transceivers.
Backed by renowned investors including YourNest, growX, Entrepreneur First, Luminate
(NextCorps), Enterprise Singapore, and 8X Ventures, LightSpeed Photonics continues to
exemplify the convergence of physics, engineering, and cutting-edge photonics. The company
aims to redefine computing infrastructure for future data centers, promising transformative
advancements in speed, efficiency, and integration within global high-performance computing
and communication ecosystems.
